The History of Beechdale Motor Group

Beechdale Motor Group Ltd was incorporated in June 1982 by then Directors Mike Wood and Les Waterfall. Mike was already working within the motor trade and Les joined bringing his expertise from the world of banking into the business. The company commenced trading in September 1982 at Beechdale Road in Nottingham and over the coming years continued to grow, culminating in a 3 acre site on Lenton Lane, and two separate sites in Derby.

In 2004 Mike Wood reached his time for retirement and a major company re-structure was necessary to facilitate this. The Lenton Lane site was sold and Mike passed the Derby Saab dealership into the control of his sons under the name "Beechwood". Meanwhile, Les retained Beechdales' Subaru & Isuzu dealership at Siddals Road in Derby and immediately added the new SsangYong franchise.

2006 brought several new opportunities. The first of which came in the form of a relocation. Due to a sustained period of growth at Siddals Road, we had out grown the site, so we jumped at the chance to move to the Parker Centre on Mansfield Road, Derby. The second opportunity was the acquisition of the Alfa Romeo franchise. Now that Beechdale had the fantastic new site and an exciting new range of cars, the third opportunity was realised, a new director, John Oldfield. John joined the company in 1988 and progressed to general manager and after years of hard work was thrilled to tackle a new challenge as the new director.

Beechdale continues to go from strength to strength, with the most recent addition to the portfolio being Hyundai. Under the control of Les and John and with a dedicated team of staff, Beechdale continues to grow and looks forward to whatever the next 25 years may bring.
